Lifestyle Medicine is a new approach to health care that uses scientific evidence-based lifestyle interventions such as optimal nutrition, exercise and stress management to treat lifestyle diseases, alone or with other medical treatments depending on the patient's needs. Lifestyle diseases such as heart disease and diabetes are the most common causes of suffering and death worldwide.  

Dr. Jennifer Rooke 


Dr. Jennifer Rooke is the Medical Director of Advanced Lifestyle Medicine and author of the soon to be published "Stop High Blood Pressure the Smart Way." Lifestyle Medicine is a new approach to health care that uses lifestyle interventions such as evidenced-based nutrition, physical activity and stress management to treat and prevent disease. Dr. Rooke has practiced medicine for over 27 years and is board certified in both Public Health/Preventive Medicine and Occupational Medicine. Dr. Rooke is a fellow of both the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and the American College of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Rooke serves as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine and in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at Emory University and past Director of Occupational Health Services at Dekalb Medical Center.

Dr. Arlene Lester

CAPT, United States Public Health Service


Regional Minority Health Consultant, HHS


Dr. Arlene Lester serves as the Regional Minority Health Consultant, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS-Region IV).  In this capacity she facilitates policies and activities targeted at the achievement of health equity and elimination of health disparities in the south eastern United States. Before taking the helm as HHS Region IV minority health consultant, she served as a Senior Program Management Consultant with the Division of Diabetes Translation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). During her tenure at CDC the U.S. Public Health Service awarded her the Commendation Medal for establishment of effective partnerships to translate research into practice. Dr. Lester is a graduate of the School of Dentistry at the historic Meharry Medical College and the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. With over 20 years of service in public health, she resides in Atlanta, GA with her son Jack Allan.
